Wedding, PET & Family Photographer

I am Val and I got called the Flying Canadian when I was out running once and it stuck…

Once when I was visiting my Mum and Dad, my Mum presented me with a box filled with film negatives covering the time from my first film camera until my first digital one.   I’d forgotten about it…  I began to digitalise these negatives and it was like a voyage of discovering… (I mean what was I wearing?!) But it was the people and the expressions that I appreciated seeing the most.  Especially the people who are no longer with us.  Photographs are such important memory aids…

Things that I love (besides taking pictures) are:

  • Paul – Mr. Val
  • Stella – our furry baby
  • Frank – our bright orange, 1982 air-cooled T25 VW campervan
  • FaceTiming with Canada – especially my Friday night FaceTime date with my Mum
  • Home
  • Talking about science with my nieces and nephew
  • Any animal really
  • Eating sweets – I love the sour ones best
  • Baking
  • Going for walks
  • Afternoon tea on a 3 tier plate
  • Sci-Fi – Star Trek rather than Star Wars for me though
  • Magnum P.I.
  • Doc Martins

“We are so pleased with the wedding photos that Val took for us. When she was taking the photos Val really put everyone at ease and she has captured so many wonderful moments. The photos are very natural and full of all the joy and smiles from the day. I could not recommend her enough!”

A few things about me

I have lived in England for almost 20 years now…My Mum grew up on the Wirral so I had a connection to the area and was able to work here.

A few things about me

I have a special fondness for Cumbria – not only did I live there for a few years but we got married in the smallest church in England – St. Olaf’s, Wasdale.

A few things about me

I am definitely not “cool” but I went to Glastonbury once.

A few things about me

I ran a marathon once – as well as lots of half marathons and 10km races before my knees told me to stop running.  I still miss it!

A few things about me

I volunteer for Wirral Animal Sanctuary by taking pictures to try to do a little bit to help promote their hard work.

A few things about me

I played trombone in the high school band.

A few things about me

Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata is my desert island disk.  Snowpatrol’s Chasing Cars is a close second.
