Emma and Chris got married at Abbey House Hotel in Barrow in Furness on Maundy Thursday and I had the privilege of photographing it. It was my first trip to the hotel and I really loved it – I drove up the night before and stayed over just to avoid any potential M6 related hassle. If staying in this kind of a place is called work, I’m happy to oblige! The wedding was in the newer part of the hotel – the Cavendish Suite – and we were all well looked after by the hotel’s staff throughout the day. The grounds were lovely to walk around with no shortage of photogenic backdrops.
I spent the morning with Emma and her girls – I love documenting bridal preparations and feeling the family love first hand. There was lots of laughter, pancakes and maple syrup (I kid you not!) and everyone was ready with time to spare to get down to the ceremony.
Emma and Chris have been together for 22 years which has the benefit of enabling them to celebrate the day with their children. The youngest, Lacey was an excellent flower girl and very attentive about her petal throwing, trellis climbing and dancing. Cameron walked his Mum up the aisle and Bruce was one of the two official witnesses. Chris’s smile when he saw Emma at the top of the aisle was totally infectious and I still can’t stop smiling when I look at that picture of them.
It was a perfect wedding weather day – it was lovely to be able to gather on the lawn for drinks after the ceremony and to have a little wander to the woods with the newlyweds to get some shots of them on their own after dinner.
Thanks to Emma and Chris for letting me into their family bubble for the day. It was great working alongside Matt on video from Bee Arrow productions and Patricia from Gift of a Wedding. Here are a few of my pictures from such a special day.

You caught some wonderful spontaneous expressions on the bridal party’s faces. I like the black & whites also. Rose petal pics are delightful. I like the soft pinks used in the dresses & flowers. Always nice to have their children in the spotlight too! Job well done, Val.
A lovely memory of a perfect day.
Thanks Mary! 😊 The pink was gorgeous and everything went so well for them. A lovely day.
