It was supposed to be a longer trip to London but the rail strikes had other ideas… Thankfully I didn’t miss out on the trip all together but instead of travelling Saturday morning, I travelled down on Monday instead.
I got to Brent’s in time for lunch and we walked down through Notting Hill and Hyde Park towards the Victoria and Albert Museum. We got caught in a thundery rain shower when we were on Portobello Road but that didn’t stop us finding some tasty frozen yogurt on our travels. We had booked to see a special exhibition at the museum called Fashioning Masculinities – it was neat to follow the history of men’s clothing and see some beautiful outfits as well as things worn by some well known people and fashion icons. Once we’d had a good explore of that, we headed back to Brent’s for some ubereats mediterranean mezzo goodness.
On Tuesday I used my itinerant membership at Brent’s local gym for a little workout before we headed down to the River Thames for a boat ride to Greenwich. That was a great way to see some of the iconic attractions of London including the Parliament Buildings, Tower Bridge and the London Eye. When we landed at Greenwich, we got our lunch in the market and then walked through the park. I found the prime meridian and took the obligatory picture with a foot on each side of it. From the park we walked along the Thames to the O2 area where we had some dinner and waited for Alanis Morrisette to take to the stage. The concert was a celebration of 25 years since her album, “Jagged Little Pill” so there were lots of familiar songs and we both enjoyed it very much.
I got home on Wednesday morning and finished off my few days away from work with a trip around the Tudor exhibition that is on at the Walker Art Gallery… this was another opportunity to take advantage of our National Museums Liverpool membership that Lauren gifted us for Christmas. Thank you Lauren!
