2 weeks in Canada in May has meant 2 springs as the British spring is much earlier than the Canadian one. This is great for me because it is my favourite season of the year. This trip was a good chance to catch up with friends and family although the main objective was to enjoy time with Mum and Dad celebrating the good health that they are in which we definitely did! Here is what I’ve been up for for the past couple of weeks:
Days out
- St. Jacobs Farmers Market and Conn Misty Meadows Market
- Toronto including the Eaton Centre, a trip up CN Tower with Nadine, St. Lawerence Market, sale shopping at the Bay before it closes for good
- Vetta Spa
Food out
- Champ Burger and their delicious pulled pork poutine which can’t be beaten
- Lunch at Anna Mae’s including their divine peanut butter pie for lunch
- Turtle Jacks and a very tasty Thai chicken salad
- Tim Hortons Tims x Ryan Reynolds loaded scrambled egg and bacon breakfast box
- McDonalds smokey maple bacon and egg mcmuffin
- Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich – one from Swiss Chalet and one from Subway
- Dairy Queen x 2 – a Reese double stuff blizzard and Oreo double stuff blizzard
- Grilled Reubans x 3 at St. Lawrence Market, The Courtyard in Courtice and The Old Mill House Pub in Creemore
- Pecan butter tart at the Creemore Bakery
Friends reunited… quality time catching up with
- Karin
- Katrina, Nadine, Nada (the McMaster chemistry clique)
- The Ford Family (or part of it at least) (Sue, Kelly and her two girls, Shaye and Avery)
- Pat and her two cats, Sam and Sylvester
- Aaron and Wioletta and two of their three children Simon and Julia (Christian was still away in Kingston at university)
Family time with
- Lauren, Andre, Olive, Kirsten, Rob, Joscelyn and Ron – and of course Boo boo and Sage!
- Jennifer, John, Nancy
- Mum, Dad and Janet of course!
Other stuff that I did
- A pedicure with Mum at the lovely Belle Nail and Spa and my first nail design – which was rather good if I do say so myself!
- A couple of walks at Earl Rowe Park where I just about caught the end of the trillium season
- Lunch in the Principal’s office at Tosorontio Public School!
- Made two trips to Creemore – one for lunch and one for a little walk around the town and a cup of tea
- Made things from the fresh Rhubarb from the garden including a very tasty upside down cake and some less successful but still nice scones
- Went to two church services at St. Andrew church in Alliston – especially to see Kim before she retires at the end of the summer
- Helped Dad with a bit of hedge trimming and Mum with curtain cleaning and a bit of sorting and taking donations to the charity shop
- Walked around the track at the township office which included catch ups with all the “regulars” – dogs and people alike – on a just about daily basis
- Found out what the Big Apple on the 401 was all about – finally
- Learned a new game – Bananagrams thanks to Kirsten and Rob
- Enjoyed my first BBQ of 2025 thanks to Mum
- Joined Kirsten live for her 6am fitness classes which I usually do via the recorded version due to the time difference!
As usual leaving is full of mixed emotions; I feel like I could stay a lot longer but I’m also desperate to get home to my boys. Thankfully, it won’t be long until I’m back over . Here are some of the pictures from the trip and the rest of them are here if you want to see more!
